What is it?
Jack (Adam Sandler) tries not to go crazy as his twin sister Jill (Adam Sandler) visits voer the holidays.
Why you should watch it?
Watch this movie not for Adam Sandler, but for everyone else.
Strengths-
The clear highlight in the movie was the cameo appearances from all the celebrities. Johnny Depp, Shaq’s commercial, Being at the Los Angeles Lakers basketball game, Jarrod from Subway and along with others helped make this movie semi-watchable. The homeless man at the start of the movie. Hilarious. The toilet guy near the end. Hilarious. Felipe. Hilarious. The children, pretty funny. Everyone else, not so funny.
The best scene is the final scene which is a goofy commercial for “Dunk’n Donuts” that has Al Pacino doing a musical promoting it. It’s weird and wacky and pokes fun from movies such as Scarface. Rather then his name being Al, his name is changed to “Dunk” so he can have a “dunkachino” lame yet very funny musical piece.
Weaknesses-
Where to start? The voice of Jill is nothing like a girl’s voice and is really annoying right from the get go. Jack’s role seems to be your everyday Adam Sandler role, nothing different to what you’ve seen him do before. Watching Jill go through the stages of dating and disappointment was more unbearable to watch rather than funny.
The comedy was no great. Katie Holmes added nothing to the movie. The Indian adopted child had a really weird habit of taping things to himself which they gave a stupid response to and never paid it off at the end. The children play a small role, barely getting recognized and appreciated on screen.
Jack and Jill really felt it was a parody movie. The racism in it, poking fun at Jews and Indians was uncomfortable to watch. It’s surprising to see that it did okay at the box office but definitely a 2.9 imdb rating is not harsh at all. Also, where’s Rob Schneider? It states his in the movie, but they did a good job of not showing him. His one of those little perks of Adam Sandler comedy movies.
Best quote of the movie-
“Aw will you stop already? You know all he wants to do is play twister with your sister.” - Jill (Adam Sandler)
Overall-
The ending just like the movie was awkward. You can’t take Jill seriously as a character. Adam Sandler should have never played Jill as he made her role become a train wreck. Storyline got more stupider that rarely make you comfortable whenever Jill is on screen. You can not watch this movie, you’re life won’t change a bit. Let’s hope Adam Sandler has better movies in him and to never dress up as a girl again.
